Race Report Jarama

Last weekend the T Sport Bernau team travelled to Jarama near Madrid in Spain for the final round of the 2022 FIA Goodyear European Truck Racing Championship. After a long drive from Le Mans the team arrived in plenty of time to get set up and give the race truck a final check over before the weekends action began. Saturday came around and as expected the circuit soon filled up with many fans here to see Antonio in the T Sport Bernau truck at his home race.

Qualifying got off to a fantastic start with Antonio once again easily progressing into the Superpole shootout, eventually securing 3rd place on the grid for the first race, a fantastic start in front of his home crowd. Lining up on the second row and from the start of the race Antonio gave it his all, showing his knowledge and experience at the Jarama circuit. Following closely behind the leading pair and putting in some excellent lap times he brought the truck across the line in 3rd position to secure a podium finish and his first silverware of the weekend. The standard reverse grid format saw Antonio start the second race of the weekend from 6th position. A very closely fought race with many of the front runners battling hard throughout the race Antonio managed to keep his racing clean and hold his position all the way to the chequered flag, earning more valuable championship points.

Sunday and once again Antonio progressed through to superpole without any concerns, eventually lining up on the second row once again, this time in 4th position. With the championship coming to a close the racing really heated up with the race being red flagged twice after a couple of competitors suffered a heavy crash. Antonio kept his cool and with the support of his home fans both in the paddock and in the grandstands he fought hard throughout the race, eventually finishing in 3rd position, his second podium of the weekend. The final race of the season and Antonio once again would start from 6th position. After a hard fought race and after suffering some damage to the truck Antonio managed to hold his own and brought the truck home, crossing the finish line in 8th position.

On Sunday evening the annual prize giving ceremony took place. Antonio officially finished in a very respectable 5th in the drivers standings. With the official prize giving ceremony the T Sport Bernau team together with the Révész Racing team were officially presented with the trophy for finishing 1st in the 2022 team championship. A great result for the year and an achievement we can be extremely proud of. After an action packed season the team will now head back to our main workshop in the UK where we will soon begin to make plans for next season. We would like the take this opportunity to thank all of our team partners, fans, and followers who have supported us this season, both at the circuit and from afar. There may not be any on track action throughout the winter however rest assured we will continue to be hard at work and we are confident that we can once again be competitive and hope to bring even more racing action for your enjoyment next season.
