T Sport Bernau have officially kicked off their 2022 campaign with a 2-day testing session at Nogaro, Southern France on 19th and 20th of April.
Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t kind to us with plenty of rain and clouds during our session. Other teams from the FIA Goodyear ETRC chose to test at Most in the Czech Republic on the same dates, however the T Sport Bernau team chose to test at Nogaro in Southern France. This decision was partly made because Nogaro is more convenient geographically meaning less miles for our team to travel, creating less emissions, but also because we have tested at Nogaro for the previous 2 seasons meaning that we have good, recent data to compare with this year’s testing session.
Day 1 of the test was the first rollout of the truck that we will compete with in the 2022 season. Sporting a new livery to showcase both our existing team partners and the new partners we are welcoming onboard for 2022. The day was spent checking all the main operating systems of the truck including the engine, gearbox, brakes and steering components. We were also able to bring along a photographer and videographer to the circuit to get some photos and video material of the new liveried truck out on the track.
Day 2 of the test was used to begin some optimisation of our setup ready for the upcoming first round of the season in Misano, Italy. The steering set up was improved and we took the opportunity to bed in some brake discs ready for use at the upcoming races. In the afternoon, Antonio and the engineers were able to test some new developments that we hope will be introduced to our race truck in the coming months.
Overall, Antonio and the team are pleased with the results of our testing session and we are confident that both the truck and the team are ready to bring some more great results in the 2022 Goodyear FIA ETRC season.
