Pre-Season Testing Report - Most, CZ

This week the T Sport Bernau team travelled across Europe from our UK workshop to the Autodrom Most in Czech Republic for the pre season testing sessions. This would be the first time our newly built race truck would be tested out on the track.

The team arrived as scheduled on Saturday and began proceedings by setting up our workshop space at the side of our race trailer giving us our workspace to work on the truck throughout the event. Sunday was spent giving the race truck a final check of all the components and to make any final adjustments such as the seating, steering and pedal positions for our driver Antonio Albacete.

On Monday morning it was time to unleash the truck on the track, the whole team were really excited to see the truck finally get up to full racing speed on the circuit. As it is always the case with a newly built truck a couple of minor teething problems were identified on the first couple of runs, however these were soon rectified by the mechanics within the day.

Tuesday and Wednesday would see further track time for Antonio, giving him and the team the opportunity to fine tune the set up of the truck ready for the start of the season whilst also allowing Antonio to properly get a feel for the new truck.

We were also delighted to welcome Antonio’s son, Tony Albacete to the circuit and allow him to also try his hand at driving the race truck. Tony is already competing professionally in national racing series, however this would be his first time behind the wheel of a race truck. Although Antonio will remain our team driver for the foreseeable future it was great to be able to offer Tony a chance to test a race truck while we had enough track time available for him to do so.

Overall the team is really pleased with the outcome of the test sessions, the pace of the truck is good with consistent lap times. The new concepts the engineers have been working on throughout the winter are working well on the truck and the small issues we faced on the first day have been resolved and the truck is now running well.

The team will return to our UK workshop to continue to fine tune the setup of the truck using Antonios feedback from the test and to finalise our preparations for the start of the 2023 Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship at Misano, Italy, in May.
