T SPORT BERNAU BECOMES FIRST TRUCK RACING TEAM TO ACHIEVE FIA THREE-STAR ENVIRONMENTAL ACCREDITATION

Independent team reaches the highest level of the FIA Environmental Accreditation Programme following a comprehensive BSI audit.

T Sport Bernau is proud to announce that it has achieved the FIA Three-Star Environmental Accreditation, the highest level of environmental recognition within the FIA Environmental Accreditation Programme.

The achievement makes T Sport Bernau the first truck racing team to reach FIA Three-Star level, marking an important milestone for the team and for truck racing as a whole.

A Journey of Continual Improvement

The achievement represents the latest milestone in a sustainability journey spanning several years. In 2022, T Sport Bernau became the first Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship team to achieve FIA One-Star Environmental Accreditation. In 2024, the team progressed to FIA Two-Star level, again becoming the first team in the championship to do so.

Now, in 2026, T Sport Bernau has reached Three-Star, the highest level of FIA Environmental Accreditation.

Reaching Three-Star required the team to demonstrate a comprehensive environmental management system supported by documented processes, measurable objectives, legal compliance, monitoring and evidence of continual improvement.

As part of the accreditation process, T Sport Bernau underwent an extensive independent on-site audit conducted by BSI, assessing its environmental management system against internationally recognised environmental management principles based on ISO 14001.

The assessment covered the entire organisation - from workshop operations, race events and logistics to energy and water management, waste and recycling, sustainable procurement, carbon management, staff training, supplier and partner engagement, air and noise management and legal compliance.

Turning Commitment into Action

T Sport Bernau has established measurable environmental objectives to continually reduce the impact of its operations. Current priorities include reducing travel-related carbon emissions, increasing the reuse of team clothing and packaging, reducing the use of harsh cleaning chemicals, improving waste separation and recycling at race events, supporting lower-emission logistics solutions and continuing the team's pathway towards net-zero emissions.

Progress against these objectives is regularly measured and reviewed as part of the team's environmental management system.

“We are incredibly proud to achieve FIA Three-Star Environmental Accreditation. People will see the Three-Star logo, but what they won't necessarily see is the enormous amount of work, commitment and teamwork behind it.

Over the past four years, we have looked critically at every area of our organisation – from our environmental impacts and objectives to our everyday processes and performance. The independent BSI audit required us to demonstrate that work with documented evidence.

To progress from One-Star in 2022 to becoming the first truck racing team to achieve Three-Star makes this milestone particularly special. It demonstrates what an independent motorsport team can achieve when an entire organisation works towards a common goal.”

For T Sport Bernau, achieving the FIA's highest environmental accreditation is not the end of its sustainability programme.

“Three-Star is an important milestone, but it is not the finish line,” Derflinger concluded. “Motorsport is built around continual development – always looking for the next improvement. We apply exactly the same philosophy to our environmental performance.”
