The second race weekend of the 2026 Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship took T Sport Bernau to Slovakia Ring, just one week after the season-opening round in Misano, Italy. Following a promising start to the season, the team arrived in Slovakia determined to build on its early momentum while tackling one of the most demanding circuits on the calendar.
The programme began on Friday with press rides and free practice sessions, allowing the team to fine-tune the truck ahead of qualifying and racing.
Saturday started positively, with Antonio displaying strong pace throughout the qualifying sessions. Competitive lap times in both Qualifying 1 and Qualifying 2 highlighted the potential of the truck, but an imperfect final lap in Q3 left him sixth on the grid for Race 1.
Despite the challenge of starting from the third row, Antonio delivered a composed and consistent drive to secure sixth place and valuable championship points in the opening race of the weekend.
Following Race 1, the team immediately turned its attention to supporting teammate Bradley Smith's crew, assisting with a gearbox replacement before preparations began for the afternoon race.
Starting third on the grid for Race 2 thanks to the reverse-grid format, Antonio made an excellent getaway and held onto a podium position for much of the race. Defending strongly against pressure from behind, he remained firmly in contention throughout.
Regaining champion Norbert Kiss produced a remarkable charge through the field. After overtaking several competitors, Kiss reached the leaders on the final lap and secured victory in dramatic fashion, edging out René Reinert by just 0.010 seconds at the finish line.
Antonio crossed the line in fourth place, concluding a productive first day.
Sunday brought more success for the team. Antonio qualified fourth and once again made a strong start in Race 3. An early incident involving José Eduardo Rodrigues and René Reinert resulted in a red flag and race restart, but Antonio remained focused and quickly settled back into a competitive rhythm.
Running comfortably inside the top four, he capitalised when Jochen Hahn suffered technical issues and dropped down the order. Antonio moved into third position and secured a well-earned podium finish, marking the highlight of the weekend.
Race 4 followed shortly afterwards and provided another impressive performance. Starting sixth on the grid, Antonio fought his way through the field to finish fourth, rounding off a consistently strong weekend for both driver and team.
Across the four races, T Sport Bernau collected a valuable haul of championship points, reflecting the hard work and dedication of the entire team throughout the weekend.
As a result, Antonio now moves up to third place in the overall championship standings, leaving Slovakia Ring with strong momentum and confidence heading into the next round of the 2026 Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship.
